Atheists / Agnostics - What changed in your mind for you to believe in god?

    Hi,

For those of you who converted to Islam from either being an atheist or agnostic, what provoked this change? What changed in your mind for you to decide that actually there is a god?

Looking back at your disbelief, do you now consider it to be very obvious that god exists or do you not really blame yourself for not believing based on some existential factors?

    Thanks for reading.

Sup, I think you are doing this next part wrong.

Can't one feel both? that they are convinced God exists and recognise that it is only through the mercy of God that one comes to belief?

I think you may like this conversion story, given the nature of your enquiry.

Re: Atheists / Agnostics - What changed in your mind for you to believe in god?

The fact that this Universe could not have formed by chance. The atheist, if he's honest, has to admit that matter had a beginning. We know, from evidence, that the Universe was smaller in the past-- it eventually expanded into the way it is now. In my experience, they tend to say "If God is eternal, why can't matter be eternal?". There's simply no evidence that matter is eternal. For a group that claims to be rational, I find it strange that they have to speak in possibilities rather than what is so. They don't want to explore the possibility that matter and our Universe was intelligently designed, so they are forced into essentially deifying the Universe.

To me, it makes more sense that there is a Creator, as opposed to it coming forth by way of blind chance.

The position of an atheist is not based upon evidence, but rather, willful rebellion against the Creator that must necessarily exist. They know that it can't be proven that matter is eternal, but that is more palatable to them than to believe in God. I do consider it obvious that there is a God. Even if Islam was proven to be wrong, I would still believe in God. I sometimes doubt that Islam is true, but I never doubt that God is out there.
