Smile Brother eHafiz - a request (?) (OP)

It is really blessed that there is a hafiz on this forum. I was thinking, brother, if you could share your experiences when you were carrying out hifz, how hard it was, what difficulties you encountered, what parts were easy, how long did it take you, what motivated you, and anything else you want to share.

Also if there are any other hafiz's (?) on this forum, please could you also share.

    Jazakallah

As for my experience, the motivation was not quite right initially, but Alhamdulillah it became more meaningful with time. I first started thinking about hifz when i was around 8,mainly because my bro(two years younger than me) had joined a madrasah where he was to do hifz(my mother was very eager to make him a hafiz),and he had become a celebrity in the family...As

Mashallah, may Allah reward you immensely for this post. It actually did clear a lot of doubts I had but a doubt still remains in my mind. I'm in college and almost 8 hours of my day are spent there and so I was thinking whether I'll be able to complete it. I know, InshAllah that I can complete Hifz but I wonder how long it'll take at that pace. I was told 3 years (if full time) and so with my schedule it may take, who knows, 5-6 years.

And I also don't want to get in to Ar-Riya (the minor shirk) because whenever I think about memorizing the Qur'an, the thoughts of the fame and respect that one gets for doing it comes to my head and I get really scared about what my intentions actually are. And recently, I found this hadeeth that turned me upside-down. I was shattered and smashed after reading it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Most of the hypocrites of my ummah are among those who have memorized Qur'an.”

I keep asking the Hafiz who lives nearby a lot of questions about Hifz but I am not actually starting it. Make dua for me for pure intentions and guidance and super memory.

If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust.
    Surah Ale Imran : 160

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) climbed up Uhud, accompanied by Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthmaan, and the mountain shook with them. He struck it with his foot and said: “Stand firm, O Uhud, for there is no one on you but a Prophet or a Siddeeq or two martyrs.”
    Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3483)

Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Taala) does not inspire seeking forgiveness in a slave whom he wishes to punish.

jazakallah khair bro...bro dont worry if you will be able to complete it,no one can complete hifz (or any thing basically) if Allah's help and mercy are not there.so keep praying and keep on memorizing regularly,if only 3 ayahs a day.i am sure you will be inshallah able to complete it soon if you are consistent(regular) and keep praying.and does it matter if you take even 5 or 6 years?so what? it will only increase hasanat in your balance...and there is no pressure on you to complete it by a certain time.(you are already studying, you are not in a situation that you have to resume your education after hifz...)so dont worry about that, start now, and inshallah Allah will help you make it possible.
And I also don't want to get in to Ar-Riya (the minor shirk) because whenever I think about memorizing the Qur'an, the thoughts of the fame and respect that one gets for doing it comes to my head and I get really scared about what my intentions actually are. thats whats bothering me for a long time...and i never really found out if my intentions are true and not riya,i hope they are true but what if they are not? who knows?there was a time when i was so much overwhelmed with that fear that i had partially decided to quit hifz, but then went on...i really have no idea what to say to this.ths hadith is so scary seriously, may Allah protect all of us from being hypocrites,Amin

One quarter juz in half an hour...easily!!!!!.SUBHANALLAH.

Allah has not blessed me with this type of memory, I know one kid who can memorize very fast but nothing like 8 pages in 30 minutes easily...no way.

It took me a little over 4 years to finish hifz, I took some breaks and missed some days but I finished in May of last year. In hindsight, ya I guess I could have finished quicker but at the end of the day everyone goes through their ups and downs so 4 years was about right. I led minimal taraweeh last year and hope to lead a decent amount this year inshallah.

Lol you're only a year older than him.

MashaAllaah @ all of these stories/experiences. May Allaah strengthen the memory of those in the path to the memorisation of the Quran and those who already have memorised it. Ameen.

    Re: Brother eHafiz - a request (?)

Wow I still cannot get over that 1/4 juz in 30 minutes deal. Like the most lesson I ever did during hifz was 1/4 juz and I was literally memorizing the entire day and it still had mistakes in it. Out of the huffaz or those doing hifz, what is th most lesson you've done and in how long? Lol the story by malaak made me curious of how big lessons people take. Cuz I think 1 ruku is a good amount of lessn for an experienced (10 juz +) student of hifz, and i'd get about that much towards the end. But a quarter juz is like 5 rukus lol doing that in 30 minutes you gotta be a BEAST. But really Allah has blessed some people with fantastic memories but I am greatful with the memory Allah gave me and that he has let me have his words in my heart even though I might not feel worthy of it.
