    Re: What's the lesson in this verse?

    Assalaamu Alaikum,

    Allah(swt) mentions the story in these verses in Surah 38 Sad, Verses 71-85;

    38 71 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    [So mention] when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I am going to create a human being from clay.

    38 72 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

    38 73 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely.

    38 74 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    Except Iblees; he was arrogant and became among the disbelievers.

    38 75 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    [ Allah ] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?"

    38 76 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."

    38 77 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    [ Allah ] said, "Then get out of Paradise, for indeed, you are expelled.

    38 78 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    And indeed, upon you is My curse until the Day of Recompense."

    38 79 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

    38 80 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?
    [ Allah ] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

    38 81 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?
    Until the Day of the time well-known."

    38 82 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    [Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all

    38 83 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?
    Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

    38 84 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?
    [ Allah ] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say -

    38 85 1 - What's the lesson in this verse?

    [That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together."

    There are many Lessons, here are few;

    1. The High Status of the Ibn Adam, Mankind, and Allah's favor upon them.
    2. The Noble Nature of the Angels and their Complete Obedience to Allah's command.
    3. Iblis couldn't be an Angel, as some religions believe, since Angels are not given free-will and can't disobey Allah's Commandments.
    4. Iblis was thus amongst the Jinn, another intelligent beings created from fire, given free-will along with mankind.
    5. Iblis, even though he gained high status, being amongst the Angels, had a hidden defect, which was Pride that inevitably brought upon his doom. So pride is a dangerous thing, as the Prophet(pbuh) said;
    "That person will not enter Paradise who hath one atom of pride in his heart." (Muslim)
    6. Iblis, is thus a sworn enemy to us, the children of Adam, and we should take him as such.

    Allah(swt) knows best.

    Re: What's the lesson in this verse?

    Assalaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

    In the All-Wise Qur’an are numerous minor events behind which are concealed universal principles, and which are shown as the tips of general laws. For example,
    "He taught Adam the Names, all of them." Qur’an, 2:31.

    This is the ‘teaching of the Names,’ which was a miracle of Adam before the angels because of his ability to be Allah’s vicegerent on earth, and was a minor event. But it forms the tip of a universal principle which is as follows: it was the teaching, due to man’s comprehensive disposition, of countless sciences, and numerous all-embracing branches of knowledge about the universe, and extensive learning about the Creator’s attributes and qualities, which afforded man superiority over not only the angels but also the heavens and earth and mountains in the question of the bearing of the Supreme Trust. And like the Qur’an states that through his comprehensive disposition, man is Allah’s spiritual vicegerent on earth, so the minor event in the Unseen of the angels prostrating before Adam and Satan not prostrating is the tip of a broad and universal observed principle; these hint at a extensive truth which is as follows:
    Through mentioning the angels’ obedience and submission before the person of Adam, and Satan’s pride and refusal, the Qur’an makes understood that most of the physical beings in the universe and their representatives and appointed beings are subjugated to man, and that man’s senses are predisposed and amenable to benefiting from all of them. And pointing out what a fearsome enemy and serious obstacle in the path of man’s progress are evil matter and its representatives and evil inhabitants, which corrupt man’s nature and drive him down wrong paths, the Qur’an of Miraculous Exposition, while speaking of a minor matter with Adam (Peace be upon him), converses in elevated fashion with the whole universe and all mankind.

    “An hour’s reflective thought is better than a year’s worship” Hadith

    "We Muslims, who are students of the Qur’an, follow proof; we approach the truths of belief through reason, thought, and our hearts. " Bediuzzaman Said Nursi
