Maaf for the late response. I haven't been posting in a while because I've been a bit busy lately.

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه.

His real name is Sa`d ibn Maalik ibn Sinaan al-Khudri. He is from the Ansaar. He is one of the Sahaabah who narrated the most Ahaadeeth from Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Every Taalib-ul-`Ilm who has studied Bukhaari, Muslim, Abu Daawud, Tirmidhee, Nasaa'i, ibn Maajah can never be unfamiliar with the name of "Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri"; it comes up so often, again and again. This is because of the vast amount of Ahaadeeth he narrated from Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, and thus his name appears so frequently in the Kutub of Hadeeth, and this in itself is a great honour to him, that throughout the world, in Madaaris, Daarul Ulooms and Halaqaat of `Ilm where Hadeeth is studied, his name is mentioned there when narrating from Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Think of how great an honour that is, that his name is widely known in the Dunyaa and in the Aakhirah. "`An Abee Sa`eed-inil-Khudri Radhiyallaahu `Anhu Qaal: Qaala Rasoolullaahi Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam..." How often. All such Sahaabah have the unique honour of having their names attached to that of Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم. And, each and every time his name is read, what do we say? What do the students say who are reading the Hadeeth? "Radhiyallaahu `Anhu" (May Allaah be pleased with him.) He has that Du`aa made for him so many times a day, throughout the world.


This great Sahaabi, as we mentioned earlier, is from the Ansaar. Who are the Ansaar? The Ansaar are "The Helpers". They are the blessed and fortunate people who helped Rasoolulllaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and their brothers and sisters from the Muslimeen of Makkah, who made Hijrah from there on account of the persecution, and they were taken in by the Ansaar, and the Ansaar went out of their way doing their utmost to please Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and please their brothers and sisters from the Muhaajireen, so may Allaah Ta`aalaa be pleased with all of them, Aameen.


His lineage goes up to the tribe of al-Khazraj. Those who know a little bit of history knows that there were always two main tribes in Madeenah: al-Aws and al-Khazraj. These tribes had feuds between them that went back hundreds of years. When Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم brought Islaam to Yathrib, which later on became known as "Madeenat-un-Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم", or "Madeenah" as we call it today, he made peace between these tribes, and by the Fadhl of Allaah Ta`aalaa, the members of these two tribes, from being the worst of enemies, became the closest friends, and this is something that only Allaah Ta`aalaa can grant.


He is Abu Sa`eed, Sa`d ibn Maalik ibn Sinaan ibn Tha`labah ibn `Ubayd ibn al-Abjar Khadhrah ibn `Awf ibn al-Haarith ibn al-Khazraj. He was born approximately 10 years before the Hijrah of Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم to Madeenah, thus, he is from the younger generation of Sahaabah. His father, Maalik ibn Sinaan, was a Sahaabi as well, and not only that, he was a Shaheed as well. He became a Shaheed on the day of the Battle of Uhud.

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه also wanted to join in the Battle of Uhud and fight against the Kuffaar alongside Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Muslimeen. However, at the time he was 13 years old, so Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم did not grant him permission to join the battle. The burning desire for Jihaad and Shahaadah existed in the heart of each and every Sahaabi, man and woman, adults and even the children. It is non-existent in the hearts of the Muslims of today, and for this reason they run from one place to another, being oppressed by the Kuffaar wherever they go. How different things would be if Sahaabah-e-Kiraam were here...


Though Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه was not allowed to take part in the Battle of Uhud, he took part in the battles in later years, such as the Battle of Khandaq, the Battle of Banu'l Mustaliq, and tens of other battles along with Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Sahaabah. He was also part of the Bay`at-ur-Ridhwaan.


Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه left this Dunyaa in the year 74 A.H. and was buried in the Qabrstaan of al-Baqee`, as is mentioned in Siyar A`laam an-Nubalaa of Imaam adh-Dhahabi رحمة الله عليه.
