Can we be friends with men, women and gays in Islam?

I was just wondering if we could just be friends in Islam? What does Islam say about that? Even if there isn't any attraction between them?

Attraction between a male and a female will eventually happen - sooner or later.

If we look at the majority of people, when have you seen a guy and a girl being friends,just being friends?

As for gays, I don't recommend being friends with them, personally. Shaytaan will start to put thoughts into you "Why is being gay haram, they are soo kind? So what if someone is gay?" etc.

You are like whom you are with. I don't like gays for their homosexuality. They disgust me. Especially those effiminate one's. And the couples. I hate the couples. Because they are doing an injustice towards the babies they will "adopt". Sounds soo oppressive.

A family needs a man and a woman. And because it goes against the fitrah.

Correct me if I said anything wrong.

we are not allowed to be friends with the opposite sex for although there may be no initial attraction, yet this is how people get attracted and there is no guarantee we will never be attracted

ofcourse we can be 'friendly' to work colleagues etc of the opposite sex but not make them as our friends!

I have never believed that a man and a woman can be friends. Our creation doesn't let us for it. That's why Qur'an and Hadith mention it a lot of times. surely Allah knows the most correct.

Islam does not allow friendship with opposite gender because it can lead to zina and Islam not only forbids the haram but anything that could lead to it. You cannot be friends with LGBT people either as that is something haram and forbidden and by friending them you are approving of their haram lifestyle. We should be civil with all but not making friends and getting close to them.

Thank you I appreciate it however how can we tell our friend that we can't be friend with without creating any drama? What method do you suggest?

well it can be direct or indirect. Direct would be you saying something like that Islam doesn't condone it and you want to start observing Islam more to get closer to God and so you will start implementing what Islam says more into your life. The indirect way would be slowly distancing yourself from them, not hanging out as much , etc. You know the level of your friendship and the comfort level with them the best so its best for you to decide what would be the best approach to this.

I don't hang out with them only when I'm on campus but we do text each other. So I think the best way to distance myself would be to not respond to their texts when they text me or tell them that I'm busy.

being friends with members of the opposite sex who one is not directly related to or married to (people with whom marriage would be considered incest, this does not include cousins, or people you are married to), who are of the age of maturity is haram in Islam. the quran says that when a man and a woman are alone the third is shaytaan, and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) i believe was once quoted as saying in a hadeeth, "it is better for you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle, than to touch a woman who is forbidden to you." The Qur'an and the Prophet (PBUH) instructed us to lower our gaze, it says in chapter 33 verse 53 for gender segregation, and scholars have interpreted this as meaning for all people, not just the Prophet (PBUH)'s wives. and in verse 32, it says women should not be soft in speech with men. again, scholars have interpreted this as meaning for all women.

indeed. But the way I see it, zina is so bad and leads to such evils, and family values are so important, it is so important to be severe so as to protect oneself and also society. and besides, why be friends with a girl when you can be friends with a guy? when someone insists, as I have, that gender segregation is unjust, people fail to see through our schemes (including mine in the past).
