Iran has unveiled the Encyclopedia of the World of Islam, containing studies by some 220 researchers working on various Islamic subjects.

The book was presented during a ceremony held by Head of the Iranian Academy for Persian Language and Literature, Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.

Many senior officials attended the event including Lebanon's Parliament speaker Nabih Berri.

Haddad-Adel said the encyclopedia provides an opportunity for both Muslims and non-Muslims to learn about the fast expanding religion of Islam.

It will also enhance cultural dialogue between Islam and other religions especially Christianity, he added.
