Imagine a famous celebrity has been charged with the crime of murder (not Michael Jackson). It's in the headlines of every major newspaper. Now let's imagine that this celebrity actually is guilty of the murder and will stop at nothing to be saved from punishment. What are some of the things he will do to ensure his victory in court?
1. Get a super awesome lawyer.
2. Try to get a pardon from government authorities.
3. Bribe witnesses or even the judge.
4. Try to rally popular support (like Michael Jackson's fans protesting outside the courthouse when he was on trial).
{And fear a Day (of Judgment) when a person shall not avail another, nor will intercession be accepted from him nor will compensation be taken from him nor will they be helped.} [2:48]
On the Day of Judgment, when we're on trial, what can we do to get out of being punished in Hell?
1. Get a super awesome lawyer? {a person shall not avail another}
2. Try to get a pardon from government authorities? {nor will intercession be accepted from him}
3. Bribe witnesses or even the judge? {nor will compensation be taken from him}
4. Try to rally popular support? {nor will they be helped}
If you're a mobster, you could:
5. Kill witnesses. But, obviously, Allah is witness over everything and He will never die.
Should I seek a source of law other than God, when it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book (Qur'an) fully explained? And those whom We have given them the Book know that it has been sent down from the Lord with truth, so be not of those in doubt.
