    Bald Patch

    Report bad ads?

Im 16 years old and i have a small bald patch on the left side of my head just above my ear, it's kinda minor because its smaller then a 5p coin, but im still worried about it because it may be the start of alopecia areata, and it's been 2 weeks and no hear is growing round that area. My grandma tells me to rub garlic on it, but nothing is happening for me. Im gonna go to see the doctor next week, but do you guys have anything to say about this....

You should visit your GP right away.. this might be fungal (tinea capitis) which is a superficial infection but highly contagious quite common in your age group.. garlic won't work.. antifungals however will.. if you don't get it looked at it may cause permanent scarring and hair loss.

I don't know enough of your history to give you any definitive answers, there are many causes for patchy hair loss, but this for where you are in life right now is most common..

pls pay your ole doc a visit.. there is nothing to be ashamed of for seeking professional help..

nah i dont think so it's that, because i don't see any scaring round that area or any fungi growing. It's just gone really smooth round the area and no hair is growing back. Insha'allah i'm going to visit my doc next week, because iv'e been really busy lately. Thanks for the advice..sis

    asalam alaikum wr wb,

dear sis/bro, do you live in the UK? Believe me there is a cure for it. It's not medical and unbelievably it's a barber out of all people who treats this condition. My neighbour had it and so did my brother. Both are now cured alhumdulillah.

Science may not even know this, but the pakistani belief is that there is a rogue hair/follicle which eats the others, hence causing the bald patches.

If you are not in the UK, then I will try to get contact details of this person and forward them to you inshaAllah. Please let me know where you are and quit worrying. Allah subhana wa ta'ala has made a cure for all diseases.

    wa alaikum asalam wr wb.

Hopefully it isn't! but you can't see fungus without a KOH test! it isn't visible to the naked eye.. whatever the case, it is the sort of thing that needs medical attention!

    wish you the best insha'Allah

    Re: Bald Patch

Sounds like Alopecia, which I have. Chances are it'll grow back on its own, though the bald patch may spread or there may be others. In a worst case scenario - though I stress it is unlikely, and probably not permenent - All the hair may go. I don't belive in herbal remedies, though they probably can't hurt and may be more effective than the basic medical response (steroids). Deffinetly go to your gp, and ask to be referred to a specialist.
