And as for the onewho fears standing in front of His Lord and restrainsthe soul from impure evil desires and lusts, verily, Paradise will be his abode [79:40-41]
Don't know anything about it being illegal, but all I know is that alot of Desis (Bengalis in particular) try to smuggle it (no, it's not a drug) when they come from back home, and apparently it is illegal to do so.
However, sometimes they manage to get past the airport security thing, and then they celebrate like mad. And btw, I'm defo not speaking from experience, I've only heard of these things. But yeah, it's not illegal in the UK or anything, you find it in shops and stuff no?
1) If you do not go after what you want, you will never have it
2) If you don't ask, the answer will always be no.
3) If you do not step forward, you'll always be in the same place

Ah JazakAllah khayr I get it now! So does that mean you cant get it anywhere in the UK? Aaaand does it really smell that bad? Aaaand, its the same for most food items [Illegal or not allowed to bring into country] so I think it makes sense now

Nah you still find it here, but I guess it's one of those things where it's like you can get the quality stuff from abroad, that's probably why they try their best to bring some from back home - I dunno. And yes, it smells bad, really bad. We had some in the shed once lol, alhamdulillaah the smell's gone now though.

Certainly a delicacy for the older lots (I still don't know why though?!), but yeah you're right... it's not all that nice. It's sometimes nice as a dish though, as in not the fish itself, but the soup you can make from it... but I should stop talking before someone vomits!
