If she was 7 I'd say happiness is when something good happens and you feel as though you wanna smile non-stop

this may sound a little slurpy but it works pretty well for me (at least part time).
being content with who you are, being content with what you have, seeing some slice of natural beauty daily and feeling a deep sense of gratitude for god's innumerable gifts.

happiness is a reflection of ones internal self. So a person who is happy usually smiles because it is a projection of the persons heart, soul and mind.
