What are the Sunnah things to do when moving into a new house?
Traditionally, we are used to doing things that are not in accordance in Sunnah.
I heard that it is Sunnah to give food to people on your house-warming as well as to say Athan at four corners of the house. Not sure the truth in that.
Dr. Abdel-Fattah `Ashoor, professor of the Exegesis of the Qur'an at Al-Azhar University, answers:
"Moving to a new house is a token of joy and Divine blessings. You are recommended by the Sunnah to prepare a meal that is called 'Wakeerah' and to invite your neighbours to it so that you will have the opportunity to socialize with new acquaintances and that will cement the sense of brotherhood amongst you. Also this will help you adapt yourself easily to the new environment.
Also, you are recommended to say the Prophetic Du`a' which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say when entering the house, whether it is new or not."
Actually it's best that you recite surat al baqara out load every 3 days, for that any house thats been recited with this sura, th shaytan wont live there.
