I know, there are many non-muslims in Malaysia. In my knowledge they are not Malaysian origin (Bumiputra) but Chinese, Indian and other.
This percentage is makes me..........shocked maybe. Where are Bumiputra Muslims ? in villages. And why those non-bumiputra chose to live in big (and medium ?) cities ?

Just courious. Regarding to Bumiputra Economic Policy, is there a rule that prevent non bumiputra to establish/build some business in small city and village area ?.

New York Metro (3% - 600,000 Muslims out of 18,815,988 people)

thats all i can find because the USA doesnt take religious census so it is virtually impossible to determine the population of muslims. heck PEW Research center, a very respected research center, said that there are only 2.5 million muslims in this country while other places estimate as much as 8 million. so the numbers are all over.

i can tell you that virginia has tons of muslims compared to most states.

there are towns where Muslims are the majority like Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan ... but i just cant confirm how much % they made up.

Most Bumiputra/Muslims who migrated to the cities live in suburbs or sattelite towns...

Most of non Muslims live in urban area, and slightly majority of the Muslims live in rural areas..

its not cities, but this site can at least give a basic idea of the demographics of muslims in the us. The largest percentages being in new york and north dakota (which suprised me)

Back to the topic. There are some major cities in Indonesia where Muslims are minority such as Denpasar, Manado, Kupang and maybe other major city. Unfortunately, I have no information of percentage.

Here in the North Central Plains States of the USA (North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana) the Muslim population is very small. The cities with the largest Muslim population are most likely Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Fargo, North Dakota

Sioux Falls, SD 1,100 or 1% of the total population
