    pls help (U.S) folks only

I am trying to find exciting Eid decorations, to put up for Eid, we have never had those growing up because I grew up mostly in Islamic countries and the decorations were every where. Now that Eid seems to fall along these pagan holidays, my youngest niece is really enamored by them, I am so fearful in her mind that she'll confuse christmas for Eid or something. We had different traditions for Eid when I was young for instance we got 'Eidya' which is money and new Eid clothes, but because the boxes beneath the tree are every where, we try to get the kids presents, the older niece and nephew of course understand the value and meaning of Eid but I don't think my niece has made that distinction yet, so please help me find nice Eid decorations, my google search is really bad.. I need a few websites that sell interesting things, all I could personally find was this flimsy website

    http://www.themuslimclothingstore.com/

and even the two cheesy things on there are sold out

    lol wa'alaykum As-Salam

I'm not from the US but anywayyy.....If these decorations are for the benefit of the youngsters then why dont you get together with them one evening and make the decorations at home, together? At least that way you can explain the importance of Eid to them aswell insha'Allah? Actually that would be quite cute.

You can make Eid cards, banners, streamers and blow up balloons and decorate/write on them yourselves and on top of that you can make fairy cakes and ice them with the words 'Eid Mubarak', Yum!

    Wassalam

Sorry sis, but I am not dexterous at arts and crafts-- so the chance of me sitting down cutting and pasting and making is out of the question..

    I need something like this
    http://www.paperlanternstore.com/ascolsatparl.html
but more Islamically themed and doesn't require an outlet, battery operated lights .. the store has only bags and cups and what nots, that is nice I can put their gifts in there, but I need to put stuff up on the walls. and I'd like it to look beautiful insha'Allah..

anyhow I am still searching here and there

thank you for your help and your continued help..

    wa alaikum assalam

http://jelbab.com/Ramadan.asp <--- eid decorations that usually aren't sold out.

We decorate with christmas lights I buy after that holiday for 75% off I also make my own banners and blow up balloons and hang crepe paper. I'm also saving up to purchase star lanterns like these - http://www.paperlanternstore.com/starlamps.html

I think it's really important to create family traditions as well. Here in minnesota, muslims go to the mall of america each eid. The science museum also offers a discount on eid, so a lot of muslims go there as well. Make a special breakfast that you only make on eid (home made cinnamon rolls are tasty and a personal favorite at my house). And, make an eid cake for the evening (nothing says holiday like a sugar overload).

Jazaki Allah khyran, I found these adorable lanterns but in Thailand and it will take 14 days to get to me, Eid will be over by then.. I like the ones you found at ejelbab I just need lighting too.. something like this, 02f8 1 - pls help (U.S) folks only

I like things relatively simple and in good taste, can't stand the too many gaudy decorations.. but at this stage any decorations will do if they come by mail on time insha'Allah.. I am still searching...

    Eid Mubarak..
