    BA union announces strike dates

The union representing British Airways cabin crew has said its members will go on strike for three days from 20 March and for four days from 27 March.

The Unite union confirmed it would not strike over Easter, but warned there could be further action after 14 April if a resolution had not been agreed.

BA cabin crew are striking over changes to pay and staffing levels imposed by the airline last November.

Another row has broken out between BA and the union about a new offer.

In addition to strike action, the union announced at a press conference that it would also ballot its members on a new offer from BA tabled earlier this week, but said it would not recommend it.

But shortly afterwards, BA boss Willie Walsh told the BBC that the airline's offer was no longer available. He said the offer was conditional on strike action being averted, and so had been withdrawn.
I think these problems are being perpetuated mainly by the union itself, and both the BA and the union will loose out by these strikes. Not to mention the chaos it'll cause for BA passengers.

In which case you either haven't been following the dispute, or work for BA management. The behaviour of management has been a complete disgrace throughout.. as even the last paragraph of your quote shows. Why 'withdraw' the offer that the Union would put to members and might end the dispute?

The union itself has put forward proposals to save costs (including wage cuts) that 'fall short', even according to management, by all of a whopping £10m.. absolute peanuts in BA's terms. The scab labour is all lined up. This is all about union-busting, not negotiation.

Nevertheless, BA has suffered losses for two years now. The union is terrorising BA into surrendering to its demands, and their demands are not on par with what BA thinks it can give.
