Acid attack on Pakistani sisters in Balochistan

    Report bad ads?

Three sisters have suffered serious facial burns after two unidentified men on a motorbike threw acid at them in Pakistan's Balochistan province.
The sisters, aged between 14 and 20 years old, were attacked as they walked from Kalat city to Pandarani village - one is still in a serious condition.
Political activists held a protest in Kalat shortly after the attack.
There are no reliable statistics, but campaigners say there may be 150 acid attack victims in Pakistan each year.
The police named the girls as Fatima Bibi, 20, Saima Bibi, 16 and Sakina Bibi, 14.
They were taken to a government hospital in Kalat, but Fatima Bibi was later shifted to a hospital in the provincial capital, Quetta.
No arrests have been made as yet.
Two weeks ago, an unknown group - the Baloch Ghairatmand Group (the Honourable Baloch Group) - claimed responsibility for a similar attack on two women in a market in Dalbandin city.
The group had warned women to wear the hijab, the traditional Muslim headscarf, and not to visit markets unaccompanied by men from their families.
The attack was criticised by Balochistan's political leaders as well as armed rebel groups, who said it had been carried out by elements that wanted to push the Baloch people back in time.

These criminals and others as well should be captured and lashed in public till the lashes penetrate their skin and break their bones.

Unhappy Re: Acid attack on Pakistani sisters in Balochistan

Asalamu Alikum Wa Rehmatullahi Wa Barakatuh!

Yeah my mum told me about this news today. ...feel extremely bad about the 3 poor sisters!
Those people have totally destroyed these 3 girls' lives. If I would get a chance, i would kill those beasts with my bare hands who did this to the poor sisters!

(The poor sisters can't get a job now as people might get terrified by looking at their burned faces. No one would marry them... Their own beauty snatched away from them so mercilessly...such an unrepairable damage! )

May Allah's curse be upon those beasts!!!

Makes me sick when I hear of such things. How anyone could do this is beyond belief. The culprits deserve the death penalty.

Brothers & sister don't forget the 6 fasts of Shawwal
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari(ra) narrated, the Prophet(SAW) said, "Whoever fasted Ramadan with the then connect with the (fasting) six days in Shawwal, the (reward) as he was fasting for a year." (Muslim,Abu Dawood,al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaai & Ibn Maajah).

Re: Acid attack on Pakistani sisters in Balochistan

This infuriates me beyond belief. You only get one face, and it's very hard to look even remotely normal after an attack such as this. Even though cases like this are incredibly rare in the UK (and rather common in Pakistan), it reminds me of a similar case which involved a stunning model, Katie Piper (whose looks were essential to her career), having acid thrown on her face on the orders of a former lover she refused to have sex with. I saw a documentary about her last year, it brings me to tears...

Katie Piper (born August 25, 1983) is a former model and television presenter from Andover, Hampshire in England. Piper had hoped to have a full-time career in the media, but in March 2008 in North London, sulphuric acid was thrown at her face by Stefan Sylvestre. The acid attack, which blinded Piper in one eye, was arranged by Piper's ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch. Both Sylvestre and Lynch were arrested and are serving jail time for their crimes.

Piper was treated in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where the surgeons removed all the skin from her face, before rebuilding it with a skin substitute and then a skin graft. The procedure was the first of its kind to be completed in a single operation.

In 2009, Piper chose to give up her anonymity to try and increase awareness about burn victims. The Channel 4 documentary, Katie: My Beautiful Face, was aired on October 29, 2009 as part of the Cutting Edge series, and repeated on Christmas Day 2009.

I guessed it was the attackers' idea of punishment, because the article said this:

There is nothing wrong with telling people to wear the hijab or to visit the market with male family members, especially in these times and the situation over there. But there is a right way to convey that message and the wrong way. This is either an act of ignorant people or evil people who just made that statement to make it look like religious zealous people are behind it.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with advising people to wear hijab and visit public places with male escorts - but there is something very wrong with resorting to acid attacks on those who (for whatever reason) didn't follow that advice!

In this case, I'm inclined to agree. They should face the same humiliation, the same hopeless feelings, the same depression and the same shock and disgust every time they look in the mirror that they inflicted on their victims. This is, I understand, a rather serious and big problem in Pakistan. The Pakistani authorities need to get their act together, because the report on this that was on the news the other day said victims are mostly treated by volunteer charities and not the government. Additionally, the government needs to punish the perpetrators of this so harshly that pouring acid on someone's face literally means you'll have to endure the same.

Actually this is more common and a bigger problem in India than in Pakistan. The hindus do this more than any other group in India. A guy proposes and if the girl refuses than the guy throws acid on her out of revenge. Pakistan is full of idiots these days that are quick to copy anybody, if only they could learn to copy the good rather than the bad of other societies.

Re: Acid attack on Pakistani sisters in Balochistan

This is a serious problem in South Asian (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh). It also happens in various forms in Arab world. Of course in the USA as well. And all across the globe.

Glo and Supreme are somehow trying to justify that this sickening act was done in the name of Islam because these women were not wearing veil? Look at the face of that sister, shes clearly wearing a Hijab and a modest dress. Even if she was not, no where in islam is prescribed the punishment of dressing immodestly to be destroyed by acid.
