I've been given a debate topic "Islam is backed up by scientific reasons not by rules" and I've chosen to debate opposing this topic. Can anyone please help me find strong points and proofs supporting the opposition of this topic?
I'd be really grateful if you can also give me some pointers on debating as it's going to be my first time, and I'm supposed to collect all info and be prepared say, by tomorrow.

best thing to do, is see if your point of argument i.e "Islam is backed up by scientific reasons not by rules" conforms with Islam. there are some scientific findings that conform to some things in Islam, but is science a condition of our belief? what is the Islamic perspective of this? you need to know that first.
just taking evolution into account, could turn your argument on its head as this is contradictory to your point that Islam is backed up with scientific reasons.
