    As Salamu Alaikum

I would like to know how to purify ones sould, by dhikr, like how can i make dhikr without going into the bidah stuff like whirling and dancing etc. I know that it is important to purify ones soul, but i just dont know how to. I dont want answers from sufis telling me to whirl and dance.

    Jazakallah Khair.

    Re: Purifying The Soul (QUESTION)

    We alaikum salam we rahmatullah

Im glad that you've understood that the way suffi people try to "purify" the soul is a bad way to do it.

This is a very broad topic but if you know arabic i could help you to find some great books in that regard; otherwise, people around here who know the English publications better can help you with that.

I don't know if "medaarixh assaleekeen" has been translated or not but if yes try to find it and buy it. And Ibn Kayyim Al Xhewziyya's books in general. He is a specialist in that and spent a lot of time writing books in that regard. He has a book called "Eegathetu al-lahfaan fi mesadiri eshejtan" where he talks about different types of hearts their sicknesses and these kind of topic but i am afraid that is not translated into English.

There is a correct way of purifying the soul based on Quran and the hadith.

Go to kalamullah.com you'll find great books under the category of "Heart and Soul".

    Allah knows best.

Purification of One's Nafs can only take place, when you fight ones wrongful desires..... every time you defeat your wrongful desire, you will come close to Allah... it cannot be expressed in words unless you experience it yourself by practically fighting your wrongful desires.... when InshA Allah (if Allah Wills) once you start feeling close to Allah every time you defeat your wrongful desires, you will get a feeling of bliss which will make your Worship (Zikr ,prayer, Dua) of Allah even more beautiful, making you have peace within yourself...

Indeed he is successful who Purifies himself (Surah Shams Verse 9)

InshAllah with praises and purifying oneself with Actions one begins to truly feel their Lord's Presence....and NOT just only by Zikr

I agree, you will only taste the sweetness of imaan when the blood of your desires will flow. Striving in the path of allah, declaring Jihad against the nafs (desires).

    Re: Purifying The Soul (QUESTION)

syed_z has said it all...and squiggle is absolutely right about feeling on top of the world when you avoid sins and do righteous deeds.

Try to pray nawaafil everyday and ask for forgiveness from you Lord and do sincere tawbah - every single day. And ask Him to keep you steadfast and to purify your heart and soul.

Do not forget to say your daily morning and evening adhkaars.

May Allaah purify our heart and souls and make us taste the sweetness of eemaan.
