According to my limited knowledge and opinion, the first and the the most important thing is to become a good human being,a good Muslim.Learn the Deeyn properly, increase your knowledge, correct your self where ever you find your self wrong. If you think you are ready to help others, start it from your own home.Make sure your Parents and family are satisfy with you.And then, look around. The best thing i can say is to teach others.Try teaching kids for the sake of Allah SWT.Whatever you can do in this regard, even if its a nice advice.

yes brother, all good deeds mentioned above are praiseworthy. Please take a note of below Hadith also. May it will give you another idea. The Prophet, peace & blessings of Allah be upon him, said to his Companions, "Shall I tell you about the best of deeds, the most pure in the sight of your Lord, about the one that is of the highest order and is far better for you than spending gold and silver, even better for you than meeting your enemies in the battlefield where you strike at their necks and they at yours?"The Companions replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "Remembrance of Allah." (Narrated by Tirmidhi, Ahmad, and Hakim with sound chains)

'Abdullah bin 'Amr, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated:
A man asked Allah's Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him) which (of the merits) is superior in Islam? He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: That you provide food and extend greetings to one whom you know and whom you do not know. (Sahih Muslim)
"Allâh is sufficient for me. None has the right to be worshiped but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne."[Tawbah: 129]
