    Science and Islam

    Report bad ads?

    Dear Brothers/Sisters,

What is the concept of science in Islam as I often heard people stating that science started the day Prophet(PBUH) separated Moon in to two parts.

What I believe science is human made terminology and based on human concepts and nothing to do with religion.

    Peace!!!

Humans made science, but who made humans?

Everything is to do with Islaam, as everything created leads to the Creator, Allaah.

    Re: Science and Islam

Science is the study of nature, simple as that. Islam makes no separation between science and deen. That is a western approach.

How will you justify when people name things mentioned in Holy Quran as science.

    Re: Science and Islam

You are trying to split science and Islaam into 2, whereas they are 1. Science is a gift to humans by Allaah.

    Re: Science and Islam

People have managed to accomplish making an aeroplane to get from one place to another - was this possible 1400 years ago?

People have managed to create HIGH TECH phones - was this possible 1400 years ago?

People have managed to get into space - was this possible 1400 years ago?

If Allaah wills for something to happen, it will happen. And if Allaah does not will, you can get all the Jinns and humans on this planet, and they will not be able to do anything against Allaah's will.

We should only be concentrating on our goal in life = death+Jannah.

    Pretty much.

What is science? Humans think they know it all, but have they even been able to create 1 thing like those that which the Creator has created? Nope. And they never will.

    Re: Science and Islam

Human Science can only study wordly phenomenons. Islamic knowledge is more general. Islam is not in contradiction with "science". It's compatible with human science, and it adds to it the non-human knowledge, the 'Ilm that you can't reach with your mind or your senses.

Allah created this universe, and fixed some universal rules which are adapted with human mind. These universal rules are called (in arabic) 'asbab' or 'sunan kaouniyah'. Science/Mind can only deal with these rational rules (physical laws, logics, scientific deduction and experiments). These rules are only organizational (to organize the universe), and instructive : to facilitate human conceptual knowledge about the universe, the Creator and the purpose of life, and also to make humans able to control (understand) natural phenomenons in order to exploit them in his life.
These universal rules are often respected, but the are not necessary for Allah to control the creation. Allah SWT can make exceptions sometimes and bypass these 'asbab' or rational rules in order to fulfill his will. Many examples are in the miracles of prophets like Musa(as) and the splitting of the sea with a stick, like prophet Ibrahim(as) who was trown into the fire, but did not burn, and the knife that did not cut the throat of Ismaeel(as) etc.

Islam teaches us to learn science to understand the universe, but teaches us also that science is limited and can't deal with the unseen, and that we have to put our trust on Allah not on the 'asbab', that Allah is the One who has control on the creation (throgh universal laws) and not these 'laws', but also to follow universal laws because Allah fixed them and He chosed to deal with us only through these laws.
