    Re: fire in dubai skyscraper

New year celebrations and wasting millions of dollars on fireworks display are definitely haraam and surely attract the wrath of Allah.

Last year, Dubai spent over 6 million dollars on a 60 seconds fireworks display. I don't know what they have planned for this year

1.Do not look down at those who engage in impermissible acts of celebration' tonight, rather pray for them & thank Allah for having saved you!

    2. As many in the world opt to lose their dignity, modesty & decency in 'new years celebrations', be thankful & grateful for the teachings of Islam!

Shame on those Muslim countries spending huge amounts of money on fireworks to celebrate 2016 while our brothers and sisters are starving in Syria, Gaza, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan and many other countries.

    Re: fire in dubai skyscraper

    "NEW YEAR"

January is named after "Janus" the Roman god of doors and gateways. He was commonly depicted in statues and paintings as a two headed man with one head facing forward and the other facing backwards. In 46-BC Julius Caesar chose January 1st as the first day of the New Year as Janus symbolically represented the door to the New Year.

Wild parties were held on the night before the New Year's Day as a re-enactment of the chaos which Roman mythology depicted as preceding the cosmos or the ordered world whose organization was set by the gods.

Furthermore, by that time, Janus had become, in practice, the highest god receiving the ritual sacrifices of Roman worshippers before the other gods, including the chief god, Jupiter.

Thus, in its essence the celebrations of the New Year on January 1st and New Year's Eve, the night before, are a part and parcel of pagan religious rituals based on idolatrous beliefs in false gods. Consequently, it is completely Haraam (sinful and forbidden) for Muslims to participate in or adopt any of its related rituals, customs and symbols.<p> </p><p>It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered the hole of a lizard, you will enter it too.” We said: “O Messenger of Allaah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He said: “Who else?”</p>[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1397; Muslim, 4822.

This hadeeth indicates that it is haraam to imitate the Jews and the Christians, and that those who follow them and tread the same path as them are criticized. Islam has reinforced this prohibition, by describing those who imitate the kuffaar as being of them.<p> </p><p>It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar said:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:</p><p>“Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”</p>[Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3512; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 2691.]- We Are Muslims © 2011-2012

    Re: fire in dubai skyscraper

Oh dear, this makes me sad. I don't think of Christians and Jews, per se, as being kuffaar. Yes, there are many people who claim to be something they are not, but from what I've seen the Prophet (PBUH) accepts people of the book as believers.

Maybe this hadith was speaking of particular behaviours engaged in rather than just Christians and Jews in general? Something they had done wrong, such as breaking a treaty? Throughout history, many have used the claims of religion for committing atrocities on others. That does not mean they actually follow that religion or that the religion actually teaches a falsehood.

In Christianity, we are told not to follow the ways of 'the world', which I think probably has a similar meaning to kuffaar. Godless unbelievers who think that our life here is all we get and there is no judgment day.

On another note, I am not against celebrations in general, but yes, such surfeit could be better used to help those in need. Then we could truly celebrate!

Accidents happen subhannallaah, but I find sad is that their show had to go on without any regard for those behind the 'curtains'.

Christians and Jews do not believe in the final Messenger Muhammad (pbuh ), nor the Quran and nor in the indivisible Oneness and Unity of Allah. ... hence they are not regarded as Muslims

My sheikh (Islamic teacher) (may Allah bless him) explained to us that Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to the entire universe, which means that we among humanity have "Community of the Call" (ummat ad-dawah) and the "Community which responded to the Call" (ummat al-ijabah).

And my sheikh (may Allah bless him) also said that even in each "Muslim" there is a "kaffir" ("disbeliever") which comprises of hidden idolatry that includes making idols in heart against God such as having pride, or envy or any other evil characteristics that was responsible for Iblis (Satan) being thrown out of Paradise. And we already know that God doesn't accept evil characteristics for entry into Heaven.

Also, he (may Allah bless him) explained that on the Day of Promises, all humanity agreed that we are servants of our Lord but we forgot the Original Promise when we came into the world. All human souls were created on innocence and are divine and pure, only in our world we become different.

That is why Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) in a hadith (prophetic tradition) yoolid al-insaan `ala al-fitra fa imma abawayhim yumajisaanihi aw yuhawidanihi meanings human beings are born on innocence and either his parents make him Jew or Christian or fire-worshipper or whatever beliefs. But he (may Allah bless him) explained Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say they [parents] make them Muslim in this hadith (prophetic tradition) because Allah already created all us humanity as "Muslim" in the Heavens. Then we humanity split into two groups: One group said "la ilaha ill 'Llah Muhammad rasoolullah" they did not change and they are the Muslims accepting of their reality in this world. And there is the other group which is not cognizant of their reality and therefore do not accept that they are Muslim in this world. Allah sent Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) as mercy to humanity and that mercy is from beginning to end.

Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) said you are created on innocence (fitra), on the noor (light) of Islam. That innocence is in everyone's heart. My sheikh (may Allah bless him) explained in Muslim that noor is ignited. In non-Muslims ignite too but they do not reflect that noor when they dress themselves with other than Islam, and he (may Allah bless him) said we respect them and are to leave their case to be between themselves and Allah.

Those things that I wrote are essential spiritual heart of Islam.

What is shariah without marifah and haqiqah? Everything has a soul. Allah gave us an analogy in our own body as in our body contains the soul. Similarly, shariah has a soul as well. And that is marifah and haqiqah.

If Muslims celebrate Hanukkah, this is imitating the Jews. If Muslims celebrate Christmas, this is imitating the Christians. But if Muslims celebrate new year eve?.

New year eve is secular celebration that has nothing to do with Judaism or Christianity. Even the pious Christians are questioning why there are Christian people who celebrate new year eve, with parties that not suitable with the values of Christianity itself.

So we cannot say the Muslims who celebrate new year eve are imitating Jews or Christian, if in fact those Muslims, those Christians, those Jews, are imitating secular people who do not appreciate the religious values.
