World's First Veiled Pilot (Guinness Book of World Record Holder) Captain Pilot Shahnaz Laghari from Pakistan.
Yes! You read it correctly. Captain Pilot Shahnaz Laghari is the World’s first baparda pilot. She can fly an aeroplane all by herself. Not only has this but she do it while fully covered in veil.
She is the only one in the World hailing from Pakistan and has her name in the Guinness Book of World Record. This shows that if one is determined, anything can be achieved and that also by staying within the boundaries of the religion.
This really is an enormous achievement for a lady as Pakistani culture is considered to be male dominant and women are highly discouraged to engage in many activities.
This reminds me of a case I once had here in Ontario, Canada, in which the personal injury plaintiff was a Muslima in one of these full veils as above, operating an automobile with it on. The defence tried to argue that wearing it impaired her vision and movement. They lost that argument. In that case, even moreso than in the photos above, she had a large area around her eyes not covered (and not just a small slit). Would be interesting to see if it had been a smaller uncovered area, that really did block some peripheral vision. Would religious freedom still win the day?
Kind of similar, did you know that deaf people are allowed to drive? That surprises a lot of people. But being deaf is no more a limit than having loud music playing.
It's double standard in Pakistan. Beautiful women face the camera on TV without niqab. Reciting naat or reading news or anchering the debate can be seen. And Flying a plane with niqab, whom none will see but co-pilots? And on TV? Thousands of ppl
