Any suras next to the sura you read in the first rakat is preferable. like if you read sura 112 in 1st rakat then in the 2nd rakat sura 113 is the best rather than jumping to sura 114. If you do not know sura 113 tah reading sura 114 is no problem
One Ayat like Ayatul Qursi can be read and Short Suras like Izza zulizathul... Qul ya ayuhal Kafiroon , Qul Huwalahul ahad all are stressed as they are said to carry more virtues.
