I started searching on google on whether masturbation is halal or haram and there was a lot of articles written about it but one article I came across was the article in this link [link removed] which argues that masturbation is totally halal and that you will be rewarded for masturbating. I would like to know whether this is true?

I'd avoid such websites. Whoever wrote those articles is clearly not a scholar and is going as far as encouraging acts which are impermissible/discouraged in Islam. Stick to proper Islamic sources.

Huh, that's weird. I haven't read anywhere, where it says that it is rewardable if you jack off. I read somewhere that it is healthy this and one can do according to this list:
1) Not to do in excess.
2) Not to use haram materials such as pornography and nudity.
3) not to take this as habit.
That is, if you really can't help it. But personally I would say, it is better to avoid it as much as possible.
