sorry to state it this way...but celebrating new year...is it appropriate?
but something to keep in mind....another year has swept away from us....
reflect the whole year...how have we spent for our creator? ...
Think and reflect inshAllah....
All i hope is for my mums happiness.Shes my light.Shes my dunya. Her tears are my weakness. Her sadness breaks my heart. She is my mirror.A mirror that keeps me alive.Without her am nothing.shes my saaya. How can i leave her.I pray to Allah(swt) to keep me with her forever inshAllah.
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: it is not permissible for the Muslims to attend the festivals of the mushrikeen, according to the consensus of the scholars whose words carry weight.
The fuqaha’ who follow the four schools of thought have stated this clearly in their books… Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a saheeh isnaad from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab that he said: “Do not enter upon the mushrikeen in their churches on the day of their festival, for divine wrath is descending upon them.” And ‘Umar also said: “Avoid the enemies of Allaah on their festivals.” Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a jayyid isnaad from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr that he said: “Whoever settles in the land of the non-Arabs and celebrates their new year and festival and imitates them until he dies in that state, will be gathered with them on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah, 1/723-724).
With regard to congratulating them on their festivals, this has already been answered in Question no. 947, which we advise you to refer to.
it is not okay to say that because it is not islamic.
oh ok ..sorry..
lol..sorry to laugh but it's kind of funny cuz the brother said it it is not permissible for the Muslims to attend the festivals of the mushrikeen, and sister roo apologized instantly.....anyhow, like it is said in the Quran....
"(5) So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.
( سورة الزلزلة , Al-Zalzala, Chapter #99, Verse #7)
(6) And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. ( سورة الزلزلة , Al-Zalzala, Chapter #99, Verse #8)"
we might not realize that just saying "Happy New Year" might mean that we r celebrating it and may get that sin....so just to stay on the safe side...let's not say anything....but i can't wait till Muharram...that's OUR new year....
Even when it comes to Muharram, we don't celebrate the new year. Rather we look back at the past year and reflect on how wisely (or unwisely) we spent it.
"...You are my Walî in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous." [Surah Yusuf 101]
Yeah I know. Its just that non Muslims celebrate their new year, but when Muharram comes for us, we can't celebrate it that way. lol, I didn't mean to sound harsh.
"...You are my Walî in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous." [Surah Yusuf 101]
it's ok sis...there's more to life than than sitting around and celebrating every single event that comes by.....we should spend our lives the way Allah wants us to...and not change ourselves to be like those around us...(does that make sense?...lol)
