i remember as soon as i turned ten, my dad woke me up for fajr. i was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoyed with him. he done that for two nights. and i would make sure that he could see that i was angry. i then i realsied that he's not going to give up so i might as well as stop my whinging. and you know what?? im so gald he did that, because i think i would have trouble getting up nowadays.
but in regards to the question, i dont exactly remember.
I answered when I reverted. But that is when I began praying as a Muslim.
As far as praying 5 times a day. I began praying at least 5 times a day as a very young child. In fact I can not remember a time in my life I did not pray at least 5 times a day. Although that was not as a Muslim and not at the prescribed times.
i don't see why anyone would get annoyed, me and my sister were always keen to do everything even getting up to pray and fasting, it was my rents who made it difficult LOL
I can't remember the exact age i learnt how to pray my sis might know..But when i first learnt to pray i kept forgetting things like intention and got my surah's muddled up , so i wouldn't count my first years
"Whoever lives amongst you will see much differing, so adhere to my Sunnah" Muhammad (صلّى الله عليه و سلم)
Never been forced to pray to be honest, my parents are very lenient eventhough my dad is extremely religious. I started searching and reading the Quran when I was 15, I would read it nightly and pray every single day. Alhamdulilah I've started again during the summer. May Allah keep our imaan strong enough for us to pray to him until our lives end! Ameen.
Im still working on it personally, I find some parts hard to remember, and get muddled up, but Insha Allah, Ill get there. Itll be much easier when Im no longer living with my family.
A whisper of peace,
Moving through the land.
Allah will surely run to us if we hold out our hands.
A word of hope will call to every woman and man.
A light until the end of time,
This is our Islam.
I started when I was about 12 I think. Before that I used to make all the prayers except for 'Ishaa lol.
Masha'allah my cousins started making all five VERY young. I remember being so amazed when I was sleeping over at my aunts one time and then my 6 year old cousin woke up, when I asked her why she said that she had went to sleep without making her Ishaa' and so she woke up to make it.
I was like Subhanallah, up to that extent at so young!
I started praying when I was around 9...although I wasn't up for fajr much often. Like sister thanaa...I can get lazy sometimes, but I've fully realized that salaat is a great blessing from Allah and whenever I miss one of my prayers, I'm stuck in a problem...so I make sure that I pray on time, 5 times, everyday...
