Assalaamu alaykum wa Rahmat Allaah,
I just wanted to share something quite amazing about memorisation of The Qur'aan.
I once knew this kid in my area since he around 7 or 8 years old. I grew up with him. He was quite a character. His father was a Hafidh of The Qur'aan ma sha Allaah.
Anyway I moved from that area a no. of years back and didn't see the kid for quite some time. I heard he went to Egypt for some time.
Anyway a few days ago I bumped into him. I was very surprised because I wasn't expecting to see him. It happened so unexpectedly.
I was really happy to see him as that little kid I once knew was all grown up and now looked like a young man with a beard ma sha Allaah.
I asked him how old he was now and he said he was 16.
I spoke to him a for a while and learnt that he went to Egypt to memorise The Qur'aan. It took him 2 years and now he's a Hafidh at the age of 16, ma sha Allaah.
He led the tarawih prayers this year with another older shaykh, ma sha Allaah.
When I heard that I was so happy for him as he has been able to achieve one of the greatest achievements a muslim can achieve. May Allaah help us understand and act upon what we memorise.
Stories like this should be a source of inspiration for us because if someone that young can memorise The Qur'aan then surely it is something that adults can also do.
Allaah is The One who's help is sought in this. There is no ease except in that which Allaah makes easy.
