but by 'eating in public' what did you mean? did you mean you cant eat in restaurants or just not out in the streets? I'm confused.

:sl:
sisters, i've already sent the sis a PM concerning this, based on afatwa from islamqa.com
:)

Pathetic excuses. The kids are really keen and willing to fast so these people have no excuses.

If you fasted all your life you wound't be able to make up for the rewards you missed because this month is Holy in itself!!

Eating in public - restaurants, on the street, public places, any places which is visible to the public.

The laws only being enforced to Muslims only. Non Muslims are allowed to eat in the public.

Most of Muslim-owned restaurants only opened at 4.00 PM. And people could take-away the food.

There are cases where Muslims selling food to non-fasting Muslims, and the whole community would boycott the food sellers.

How would they know if you were Muslim lol? That's a personal thing, they can't really know your religion, only you can. That's a really unique law.

I agree, government shouldn't go around cracking down on people. Those kinds of thing are what the Taliban in Afghanistan do.

Well... they would be caught red handed along with the food they eat (as evidence), later they would be brought to the lock-up in the police station. Then being produced in front of a sharia Court judge... the punishment is only paying fine. We have no Hudood laws here.

And they're being caught as they're eating in the public, not in secluded places.

I think 99% of Muslims want this kind of enforcement during Ramadan, why?:-

1) Almost all Muslims in Malaysia observe Ramadan (including those who didnt perform salah)

2) A Muslim eating in the public during Ramadan gives bad image of Muslims and Islam to the Non Muslims.

3) A Muslim eating in the public during Ramadan gives bad example for 6 year old kids who are starting to observe Ramadan.

4) Religious Authority message: "If you dont want to observe Ramadan, it's between you and God, but if you openly doing it, it's our job to get you!!"

one of my friend said that she no someone not fast only because he is in a non muslimcountry and he is alone in the house (what an excuse!!!)

and about kids fasting, I think we have to teach them little by little about fast. for example, we can let them fast half day not the whole when they are 9. or we can let them fast on the day off.

I was fast half day when I was 8 or 9 (I did not remember).

Actually as far as I am aware it is haram for Muslims to eat in public in an Islamic state in Ramadhan.

We shouldn't be labelling things right or wrong with out knowledge, because we might actually be condemning a command of Allah while we are ignorant of it.
