sheikh my sister made a promise on Sunday 26th of February 2023 around 8:00pm saying she will not eat any food until the winner of election that took place is announced. she fasted today Monday 27/02/2023 and oly had water for iftar keeping her promise. the thing is she is having ulcer and we family members are afraid that she might harm herself in the process since the winner is yet to be announced, they are still compiling the results. so we want to know if there is a way to rectify what she did or not.

There is no sheikh here, just regular Muslims. Check out this fatwah regarding your issue:

Is it mustahabb to observe fasts in expiation for breaking an oath as the six days of Shawwaal? - Islam Question & Answer (islamqa.info)

It was narrated that ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “If you swear an oath then decide that something else is better than it, then do that which is better and offer expiation for breaking your oath.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6343) and Muslim (1652).

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever swears an oath then sees that something else is better than it, let him do that and offer expiation for his oath.”
Narrated by Muslim (1650).

One should be careful about what oaths one takes and should always take it seriously, not lightly.
