Volume 4, Book 55, Number 618:
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

We were with Allah's Apostle picking the fruits of the 'Arak trees, and Allah's Apostle said, "Pick the black fruit, for it is the best." The companions asked, "Were you a shepherd?" He replied, "There was no prophet who was not a shepherd."

I thought this thread is for general fun-type questions, not islamic-ones.

there is already an Islamic quiz thread. I can't remember where it is, but there already is.

This is also a puzzle and humour section.

Could this be the Hardest Brain Teaser Ever?
Albert Einstein was a world renowned physicist and mathematician who loved brain teasers. He did his best work as a patent clerk. He was known as a very wise man and he valued education above all. He is credited with coming up with one of, if not the hardest, brain teasers ever created. Einstein stated that at least 98% of the world couldn’t solve the problem. If you want to find a hard brain teaser you can try your hand at this one:
Go on don't get disappointed...:D
There are 5 houses. Each house is painted a different color. Each owner of a house is a different nationality, drinks a different drink, smokes a different brand of cigarette and each has a different type of pet.
Here are your clues:
1. The British owner lives in the red house.
2. The Swedish man likes dogs.
3. The Danish man enjoys a spot of tea.
4. When looking at the front of the houses the green house is just left of the white one.
5. The owner of the green house likes coffee.
6. The person that raises birds smokes Pall Malls.
7. The man who smokes Dunhill brand also owns the yellow house.
8. The owner of the center house drinks milk.
9. The man from Norway lives in the last house on the left.
10. The person who smokes Blends is the neighbor to the man who smokes Dunhill.
11. The man who drinks beer also smokes Bluemasters.
12. The German man smokes Prince.
13. The Norwegian is the neighbor to the man who lives in the blue house.
14. The person who smokes Blends lives next to the man who drinks water.
The Question: Who is the owner of the pet fish?

No cheating! Allah is watching you. :D

Jazakum Allahu khayran Ameen...I didn`t notice that, just wanted to benefit others...

next: I walk with no feet, I fly with no wings and cry with no eyes...who am I?

I took a paper... read all 14 points... took notes... and when I read the Question at the end... I just threw the paper in the bin :hmm: Dimagh kharab ho jata... agar try karta to.

That's EXACTLY what I did too..aside from the fact that I haven't binned it yet. I am now the proud owner of an A5 page filled with boxes, scribbles and meaningless doodles.

The geeks amongst you might enjoy this worksheet.
I don't think the questions are exactly the same, but the principle for solving the riddle is there.

I remember I did that puzzle a few years ago. I'm not gonna give the answer, but I wanted to add that the assumption of Einstein that only 2% of humans can solve it is not really accurate (I'm not sure how he did the calculation anyway :°\ ). I remember I was doing this puzzle with my friends, and nearly half of us did found the solution (50% not 2%).

You can find the solution nearly after 15 min of concentration, and with a lot of drawings. It's based on possibilities and relations between the things mentioned in the puzzle.

HMM :? maybe the British guy?

I think the answer is none and Allah knows...

I too did the same, as zAk did besides I solved it a bit but not too much and then trashed the paper! aur mera dimaagh kharab hogaya. 4 saal ke engg me itna kabhi dimaagh nahin lagaya tha. ;D

During World War II, some Nazi spies spoke perfect English. In order to determine whether a suspected
spy really had English as his native language or not, one test was to ask the suspected spy to solve a math
problem on a blackboard and explain his work as he went, in English. Spies would often slip into German
while solving the problem and thus betray themselves. This illustrates how hard it is to solve a logic problem
and speak a foreign language at the same time. But it’s great practice.

Sooooo perfectly clever!

^No i didnt "Consult" (what a geeky word to use "consult" lol) geeky google
