A Serious Topic...

I've been increasingly hearing about a lot of serious marital conflict in our local community, and I'm sure this is reflected in most communities unfortunately. After all, the full time job of the shayateen is to influence us towards self sabotage, with a specific focus on marriage

Because of how concerning the trend has become and my own personal exposure to many very sad examples of couples going through seemingly unnecessary stress and marital tension, I felt compelled to share this reflection on the matter...

May Allah reward you for this sincere reminder. It is true that marriage is one of the greatest gifts from Allah, but it can also become a place where patience, mercy, and sincerity are tested. Allah reminds us that He placed between spouses “love and mercy” so that we may find tranquility in one another. When that foundation is protected, marriages are strengthened; when it is neglected, small problems can grow.

It is also wise to remember that the shaytan seeks to create division and resentment between husband and wife, because breaking a marriage can harm not just two people, but entire families, and the community. That is why the Qur’an calls us to respond with ihsan, patience, gentle speech, and reconciliation. Even in difficulty, Allah opens the door of mercy for those who turn back to Him.

May Allah heal broken hearts, protect marriages from fitnah, and fill homes with sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. And may He make us people who bring ease, not hardship, to those closest to us.
