It technically says the same thing in the Bible, you know (not in one of the inspired books, though of course by now none of them are inspired anymore since they've all been corrupted). Funny thing is, it's in the middle of a verse which also describes the earth as a circle:
It is he [God] who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; [and it is also He] who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22, Revised Standard)
