:o why do ppl say accountings boring? lol...

I did it last year in year12, aced it... my teacher was an old lady for a semester, but had a new/more energetic one so it made accounting fun :D, but repetitive

and I'm going to be doing this for the rest of my life lol, might as well get used to it

Accounting is sooooooooooooo fun. i just love it. of course, accounting work (on the job) is repetitive and gets tiring but the best thing is that the accountant doesn't have to be stuck in the bookkeeping role forever. Accounting recordkeeping work is only done by bookkeepers and newly graduated accountants while experienced ones go onto to more fun roles such as management consultant, financial consultant, etc.

I wrote ACCOUNTING FOR BEGINNERS & its workbook in 2007 while still in college. Had it for so long but didn't know what to do with it. Alhamdullillah I was able to publish it through Kindle direct publishing (an amazon.com company) and it's been selling well at the $3.99 price.

wow :)

i duno guess my teacher sucked buh i was good at it, for me accounts is of no use im not gng to go to a job or sumfin.

I've always loved science subjects lol ppl hate physics n its one of my favs

^loved science subjects too. didn't study physics but saw some coursebooks and thought they were interesting. I loved astronomy, archeology, paleanthology, geology, and other earth science subjects best. also loved ecology but hated biology.

But writing and math were my favorite subjects.

I once had subject management for one sememester.Accounting was not related to my subject but professor taught few problem, didn't understood it nor I was interested in it ,It was not imp from exam point of view.

I hate all sciences, not pointing the finger at anyone, but reason why i dislike science was because of my teacher in year 10 who was horrible, mean and boring :/... i did okay in science, but me and science didn't click. My last memories of science was a test, our usual teacher was absent, sat nxt to a friend and copied his paper got 70%+ lool...

I'm going to double major in accounting and finance, heard finance has pretty hard maths, is it true 'WRITER'? And it's cool to see a muslim publisher :). Hope everything goes well inshallah...

There are some advanced math subjects that you take in college and study some calculus, trignometry, and statistics but basic accounting consists of really simple math (addition, subtraction, commissions, sales mark up, profit calculations, etc. You also get to make budgets, income statements, balance sheets, etc, the most difficult thing in accounting is journal entries related to leases, pension calculations, and annuity calculations.

strategic planning is more difficult but very interesting.

Oh okay I wasn't too bad with calculus, trig and stats last year... The level of maths I've done last year in year12 was high, so alhamdulillah I don't think I'll need to do math courses in uni inshallah.

"commissions, sales mark up, profit calculations, etc. You also get to make budgets, income statements, balance sheets" I've done most of that alhamdulillah :)

Would definitely agre about journal entries, and the double entry accounting, sometimes confuses me... Correct me if I'm wrong sister, but hasn't it become pointless of teaching someone how to physically draw up journals and ledgers because everything is done on computers now, and the accounting processes have been simplified?

strategic planning, that would come more under the management aspect right? would it have to do with

^It's true that it's done on computers now but you still need to learn the basics, which account to debit and which to credit. Even when you go to learn accounting software, they require that you have basic accounting knowledge. making budgets and financial statements is also very fun and you should know how to make them manually.

The thing that used to bug me so much was wen my balance sheet didn't get balanced :p

I liked cost accounting was fun.

I took it in my a levels I had to cover up the things I missed as I didn't do it in my o levels. Had science subjects in my o levels Lol ppl used to scare me tht its really hard buh it wasn't A2 was a lil buh As level was easy. Studied for 6 months n gave the paper Alhumdulilah I passed :)

Sis writer have u studied psychology??

^I have studied psychology, yes. If you use the double entry accounting and follow all the steps of the accounting process then your balance sheet will balance (unless you've made some mistakes). you have to go through journalizing and posting and making the trial balance etc. Using a worksheet to make the financial statements simplifies it all. but if you've made a mistake somewhere during the journalizing or posting stage, then finding that mistake can be nerve-wrecking.

I know we used to make financial statements n all. Lol wen the balance sheet didn't get balanced we had to go back n check where we went wrong n do it all over again guess u need sabr in accounts :p

You didn't make the trial balance and post closing trial balance before making the financial statements?

Went back and check. That's what I did when my balance sheet didn't get balance. And the conclusion?..... when I use calculator I should watch my finger.

I hate accounting. It's so BORING. :/ Who came up with such a dumb system. >_> Making life so complicated.

^haha I guess mostly ppl think its boring

I used to. Guess I used to make mistakes in the expenses side Lol thank God that's over now no more accounts InshaAllah will study further switch back to science subjects.

Balance Day adjustments are the worst for me -__-...

Alhamdulillah my final accounting exam required us to do like 3 reports, mostly was cost accounting, ratios analysis and Cost-Volume-Profit analysis. Nailed the exam got 90% alhamdulillah my highest mark :D
