advice on whether I should tell my mother

I have commited a sin to my mother and am afraid to tell her, what I know is that telling past sin is forbidden but if this is done to a parent without them knowing will it become an exception? or should I just sincerely repent and ask for a forgiveness from Allah and my mother? need advice since this is kinda bothering me for a long time

I did confess to her few hours ago but didnt go into more detail as to what I did to her, I just said I have commited sin to her but I cant tell and she did forgive me, but still I dont know which one is right whether telling her what it is and thus revealing the past sins or keeping it a secret and just confessing to her that I commited a sin.
