As-Salaam alaikum,
Part of ayat 44 of Surat 'Isra'i of the Holy Qur'an reads:--
"...There is not a thing but celebrates His Praise and
yet you understand not how they declare His Praise." (17:44)
As we learnt from Sheikh Ibn Arabi in his Futuhat Makkiyyah, every existential being is either a talking animal (hayawan nathiq) or a talking animate being (hayy-un nathiq-un).
'A thing' (shay) in this ayat refers to everything, and it would be impossible for it to praise Allah unless it is alive and intelligent, by which it knows how to glorify Allah Ta'ala.
