Are dolls permitted in Islam?

I am knitting dolls in human form for a friend and it got me wondering whether dolls are permitted to Muslim children?

But if these images and dolls are toys for children, the Sunnah indicates that they are permissible. In al-Saheehayn it is narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “I used to play with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and I had female friends who would play with me…” al-Bukhaari, 6130; Muslim, 2440.

Knitting is my favourite pastime!
I might go as far as say that I could knit most things, if I put my mind to it.

If you had access to the mixed female section you would be able to see some of my knitting.

wow....i would suggest opening a sweater shop,you'd make money stretching longer than the knitting thread itself inshallah
