Assalam Alaikum Brothers And sisters & Ramadan Mubarak
I joined this site to help me become a better muslim.
Although i was born into a muslim family, our family didnt practice islam. So sadly i dont know how to pray.
I hated my religion, because of the fact that my mother used to 'lie' to me by using Islam. It made me think it was oppressing women, while mine were allowed to do everything. I announced to my family that i had become an athiest.
After a really bad relationship, i turned to Islam, as it was the only thing that offered support, and Thanks to all the brothers and sisters that post on Youtube, and the internet the true islam. I have never looked back. I realised my mum was just trying to force culture on me rather than religion, and now that ive embraced my religion, i feel more liberated.
I find it hard to learn namaz as in the pronounciation and what to say at what time.
My friend suggested i download the namaz recitation for each prayer and play those on a speaker device and perform my namaz like that. Not only can i listen to the prayer being said correctly, i have more chance in being able to pronounce it properly and learn it faster. Like they do at Jummah. Where one man leads everyone through prayer. But my other friend said this is haram and namaz is only permitted if i say the prayer rather than it being said for me.
If it is haram, can anyone help me by giving tips on learning namaz.
