1) khoita bazer?
2) UTTHO!!
3) Tumar naam kita? Or Afnar naam ki but you wouldn't really ask elders their names..

Sis Muslim Woman, I'm not too good at the Shuddho side of things..so if you can help? :)

However, mum isn't givin me the recipe at the mo as she's finding it hard to believe that I want to know how to make Handesh... Is it that hard to believe I ask thee?
Oopsie..didn't realise the image was that big :muddlehea

Hmm that doesnt look like anything I know of...Intewesting :p I'll wait for somebody to shed some light on that Insha'Allah :D

Mum still keeps laughing at me... she's finding it really hard to keep a straight face!
I am so hurt..
So sis, thought of any random phrases today?

;D my mum would look at me really funny if I asked that too :p

yeah...Hmm .. how you say...

I feel rather hyper today, almost as hyper as a dancing hyena :)

:p

Dayang...dunno what hyper means in Bangla..(mum'll probably laugh if I ask her that)
So..what about:
Amar ze khushi lager aske, ze khushi lage ami khali naste sai
(I feel really happy today, so happy I just want to dance away)

;D kool! JazakAllah khayr

How you say,

'I'm sorry'

'Please forgive me'

Erm... I feel sad....

Whats the word for trust?

I don't think we have a bengali equivalent for I'm sorry..
Forgive me- amare maaf khoro
Trust - bisshash

JazakAllah khayr sis....that will be all for today :D

can we have a convo in Bangali 2mrw? :p

:sl:,

"Handesh" is made from the key ingredient "Molasses" usually found in all Muslim and Asian grocery shops, (called morsa gur in bengali :-[) which is produced from dates or sometimes sugurcanes. It's Black, Thick and really Sweet:

The "Handesh" can therefore be classed as a dessert (coz its sweet) but also a type of savory as its fried. (its both lol if such things exist :p)

To prepare the actual "Handesh", you add the Molasses syrup with Rice flour (preferably the fine one):

..adding some normal flour, say about a half a cup of milk, cocunut powder (if preferred) and then all of this should be mixed properly to produce a fairly thick light brown, smooth mixture which then is poured into hot oil, (like pakora's are) but making sure these are nice and circular in shape..fry until nice and dark brown in colour ..and voila! you have Handesh :p
