JazakAllah Khayr sis :)

And I got your rep, I want to begin with the basics insha'Allah. Like where do I go from 'Tumi Bala Aso Ni'..what I gotta learn next? :-[

Local people of Dhaka , Barisal, Sylhet , Noakhali , Chittagong etc etc ....they have their different dialects . It's almost impossible for others to converse / understand their local languages.

Barisal, Dhaka and Noakhali is fine. But it's the sylheti and chittagong dialects that are really difficult to understand.

Sis I'd like to learn any type of Bangali, Shudho would be helpful. Are you in the sisters section?

Yup, I am in the sisters' section.

Oh JazakAllah khayr, can somebody please teach me something...Just some random words to increase my vocab :exhausted

:salamext:

Afnar naam kita? = What is your name?

Amar naam ... = My name is ...

Afnar boysh khoto? = What is your age?

Amar boysh ... = My age is ...

Afne bala asoni? = Are you alright?

Ami bala asi = I am alright

:wasalamex

Woot JazakAllah khayr akhee.

You say its: Afne bala asoni?

Whilst I thought it was Tumi Bala Aso Ni...Whats the diff, and is there a different/more respectful way you would talk to the elders?

I know that Amar means my, Ami means I and Tumi means you, whats yours?

^ yh, you would use "Afne" when referring to elders or someone of respect.

Yours = Tumar/Afnar

Sister

Brother

Momma

Poppa

Hehe..I was wondering what was with the 'ami samaka'
It's so cool you're trying to learn different languages..
I really need to make an effort to learn arabic and brush up on my Bengali speaking and reading skills myself..
What about randomly joining in the Bengali thread? You still gonna continue putting up random words to be translated?
And then also differentiating between the spoken versions of the words in which they differ..Writing wise there's only one..which is standard Bangla, like we have standard English.
Good luck! :D

:exhausted it sounds difficult already, maybe I should quit whilst I'm ahead :exhausted :skeleton: lol...arghh I dont wanna randomly join that thread coz all I'll learn is random vocab...I want to learn how to make sentences, I'm not too bothered about the writing tbh, as long as I can make coherent sentences (Speak them I mean) then I'm a happy fishy :D :-[
