I read this post yesterday and it troubled me and I have been thinking about it since. It troubled me because I ask questions and I often describe them as hard questions and I have been accused of asking such questions just to cause annoyance; it concerned me that I might fall under suspicion of being the Christian zealot described. It also troubled me that because of this thread I might feel constrained to ask questions because I might fall ‘suspect’. Having thought about it a lot I could only concluded that I know who I am and why I do what I do and hope that is good enough; if it is not I am ready and willing to answer any questions.

If someone would give me the address of this site I am curious enough to take a look.
Nah, you're intelligent, unlike the moron mentioned in the first post. You ask hard questions, but you ask them directly, you don't mess around with this skull-and-dagger rubbish.

I'm mentally writing that guy off as some nutter who is not at all representative of the People of the Book.

Why are Islamic forums nicer then Christian forums. I know of a lot of Christian forums they are horribly rude, restrictive, uninviting, and unkind. The two Islamic Forums I have been to are so nice. It makes me laugh.

maybe its the muslim forums u chose to join. trust me u can find rude muslim forums too :D

Well then I guess I just got lucky. Two nice, enjoyable, and welcoming Muslim forums in a row. Sadly it has been way to many rude Christian Forums in a row.

One out of tenish or so atheists boards I know is rude. The rest are nice. Some a lot nicer then others.

Still I wonder is there something about Islam that makes them nicer on forum boards?

I would just like to comment on this part. This question of yours indicates that you may not understand Islam as well as you think.

Islam teaches that there was always one religion, that is one that required submittance to a single omnipotent creator. That creator, as explained by the Quran and the Prophets, is not polytheistic like the Hindus assert or 3-in-one like the Christians. These are man-made perversions of the truth and should be abandoned.

"Verily the only acceptable religion to Allah is Islam." [Quran 3:19]

Do you understand this verse? For Allah, Islam is the only acceptable view, all others are just the prduct of various peoples' imaginations and opinions.

assalam

I suppose moslems should respect and believe in all profits of God and the related religions in their pure form. Am I wrong?

To begin with a minor correction. I doubt if you are even aware of this. We are Muslims not moslems. Moslem was/is an archaic word that carries some derogatory connotations, goes back to the days of the 1736 French play "Le fanatisme, ou Mahomet le Prophete" by Voltaire. It depicts moslems in a very negative and untrue manner.

We do believe all true Prophets going back to Adam were Muslim. Islam has always been the true revealed religion and there have always been Muslims since the creation. The "People of the Book" (Jews, Christians, Sabeeans) are Muslim if they practice their religion in it's original revealed form.

Perhaps because we not only tolerate questions, we encourage them. We are taught to question all things and not to accept things on blind faith. Non Muslims on an Islamic forum do ask question we have not even thought of. When asked with respect and not as an accusation, we welcome such questions.

Thinking can sometimes be a good thing. We need to truly be Muslim by choice and not simply because we never knew anything else.

I somehow don't think people think of you as a Christian zealot, Thinker!! :D

The Christian forum is a huge forum. I was a member there (still am, I suppose) but it was too big for my liking.

It has undergone a few management changes in the last couple of years, so I am not sure what it is like now.
It certainly was not a forum with the specific intention of training Christians up to infiltrate Islamic forums!
Mostly it is a forum for Christians to discuss their beliefs, theological differences and all other matters of daily life. The 'other religions section' is only a small part.

I will send you a link if you are interested.

I have never made out to be a genius when it comes to islam, I dont think anyone can understand any relgion 100% no matter how hard they try! they are so intricut! there are people like woodrow, who are so well educated when it comes to islam, he has always advised me well, and spoken to me in a very calm manner to help me understand.

please remember im not muslim Im christened, but know far more about islam than i do christianity because i took more of an interest. the reply i left on that horrid excuse for a forum was simply stating a fact, ie, that i would choose this forum over any christian forum any day simply because i feel that christianity is "shoved in your face" far to much and it winds me up.

I appreciate your advice you have given, I am always open to more teachings, I find islam a facinating religion. My children are being brought up in an islamic way as their father is muslim. although Im not, i want to make sure my children get the best, hence one reason for me joining this forum.

:D :D :D

all the best

There have been such people join as members. We have no reason to fear them. Rather they should be pitied. It is a sad commentary that a person feels a need to hide their true beliefs. How can they believe what they profess to believe when they do not feel secure enough to openly proclaim it?

This forum is open to all people. Nobody has ever been denied membership because they do not follow Islam. Nobody has ever been banned because of their beliefs, the bans have been because they violated forum rules. Which are actually very liberal for a religious based forum.

Woodrow, again you speak sense! :D

I wonder sometimes if you do anything but sit around a fountain of knowledge!!

when i registered on the chrisitian forum today all religions where on a drop down box for the registration forms, except for one and ill give you ten out of ten if you can guess which one?! well i couldnt see it anyway.......

Then again it might be simply because of my age. After nearly 70 years of wandering around on this planet, something was bound to sink in, even if by osmosis.

I have found that many Christian forums are not very Christian. I've been banned from several after being invited on to answer questions about Islam. Apparently, they did not like a Muslim's view of Islam and were hoping to have the stereotypical view verified.

What's sad is that somebody would actually have enough time on their hands to manage something like that. If they want to stay on the Christian forum they hey...great, by all means, by why attack an Islamic forum just for the sake of it? It certainly does not help their cause, and at best, only makes them look foolish and desperate.

Agreed! well said!

woodrow, 70 years!? wow, no wonder your full of knowledge! im just thinking, my nan is 70, and she cant use a phone let alone a computer! you must be a super hero of some sort! :D

To be honest, that is one of the main reasons that keep me stay here. They really make me think about many things that never came to my mind before. Lead me to search and look for the answers, thus increase my iman(faith) when I find what I am looking for....so I do really respect many non-muslims here

To be fair, the rest of the folk posting on that thread don't actually agree with the idea at all. Most have said it is a stupid idea, the rest have said nothing in relation to the islamicboard attack but have spoken on the thread in relation to other points made. Which leads me to believe the guy (who started the thread) is a crack pot and not at all representative of that forum. Read his posts on that thread and you'll get a better view point of not only him but the other members/community.

I found this today by pure chance when I was looking for an information and it made me feel sick +o(

This is such a pathetic way to invite people to a specific religion.
If you have something to say, don't cover your head under the PMs, say it loudly if you are confident of your faith. Don't use such a twisted pathetic way

Its sad to know that we have such pathetic members who are pretending to be curios about something while they are not

I was very generous though to hide the username and the forum name as well

It happens yh.
Tsk reminds me of something similar that happened elsewhere.
May Allah Ta'aala save and secure our Imaan.

Not quite 70 I will be 69 this July, I rounded off. But, I don't feel a day older then 112.

The reality is less than 2 years ago I was preparing to move into a full care nursing home. Allaah(swt) blessed me with a revitalization of my health and for the past year I have been more active then I was in my 30s. Even riding horses again and doing farm chores. Threatening to see if I can renew my pilots license. My wife is encouraging me on that. Still not certain I can pass the FAA physical, but Inshallah perhaps this year, when the weather gets better. She actually wants us to buy a plane as we travel so much it would save money in the long run.

Thank you, brother aamirsaab.

I assume you mean Muslims?

I checked and you are mistaken, you will find Muslims on the drop-down list between Jehovah's Witnesses and Pagans. (Although you have to plough your way through uncounted Christian denominations first! :D)

In fairness, as far as 'having a certain religion shoved in your face' is concerned I think the Christian forum protect its faith identity in a similar way to this forum here.
Just as LI protects its Islamic stance by preventing non-Islamic influences which are deemed too great (by mod intervention, if necessary), so the CF does the same.
Just as LI's main aim is to offer a forum for people to learn and discuss about Islam, so CF does the same with Christianity.

As a Christian I have had to learn that if I want to remain a member here in LI, then I have to refrain from certain comments and statements.
I have often thought (and sometimes said) that I would love for LI to be open to real interfaith conversations. I have had to learn that that will simply not happen - it's not what LI is for!
I can accept it and stay, or not accept it and leave ...

Peace :)
