Southern Red Bishop.
We didn't see any of these in January and even in April we only saw them at Lake Manyara, where they were numerous but hard to photograph.

Little Bee-eater.
These are common and often perch near roads as they watch for flying insects, so relatively easy to photograph compared to more skittish species.

Female Saddle-billed Stork in flight, a pretty rare bird. This is the only one we saw this trip.

Black Heron.
A first sighting for us ... this species feeds by covering its head with its wings, squatting over the water and stirring up the mud with its feet. Apparently shading with the wings allows it to see better. Here it's pulling the wings over-head before lowering itself.

In the next shot the heron is crouching under outstretched wings while stirring up the bottom by kicking its feet and grabbing the small prey that get flushed out.
