Gems Beautiful Quotes, Proverbs, Sayings

‎"Know that if the people are amazed by you, then they are simply amazed at how beautifully Allah has concealed your faults."

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meaness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whomever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Jalal ad-Din Rumi

“An act of sadaqah (charity) is like perfume;
It benefits the user, the buyer, and the seller.”

-Aaidh ibn Abdullah al-Qarni

Every day the sun rises it calls upon us, O people! I am a new day; I am an observer of your actions. Take advantage of me for I will not return until the Day of Judgment. O son of Adam, you are nothing but a few breaths. Once one breath goes out, part of you goes with it. In the same way that part of you has gone, soon all of you will go."

[Hasan Al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him)]

There is rest only in the aakhira.
Man will rest in the aakhira according to how hard he strives in dunya.

"The best form of speech is that in which a little removes the need to say more, and the meaning is self evident in the words."
Ibn Abbas

When surrounded by difficulties in life, keep low, speak less - till the storm passes.

"Death is NOT a fullstop, but merely a comma in the sentence." -- unkown

And I absolutely agree with Hulk's signature "Stay away from kibr". I have always tried to live by this principle (stay away from pride/be humble) and I have found that those who don't, often fail in many tasks. Pride is serving yourself; Being pious is serving God.

Both the Qur'aan and the Bible condemn pride.

1 tip: Don't complain today, rather thank God for just 1 blessing (at least).

"When God takes His people into the darkness, He goes with them." I don't know who wrote this quote, (and I paraphrased it, since I don't it word-by-word) but this is certainly worth remembering. I don't remember the whole quote, so I don't think the word "darkness" was used--since it is a harsh word--but maybe it was something like "troubles" or "hardships".

Last quote :) : "The best way to predict the future is to make it happen!"--this is my new favourite quote :) I often find myself making a mental list of all the goals I wish to accomplish (such as writing a book) but I must admit, that I haven't been doing anything to reach these goals of mine... :(

I hope you will remember some of these quotes :)

Excellent thread, by the way! 5 stars/thumbs-up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up

Men must have corrupted nature a little, for they are not born wolves, and they have become wolves.
Voltaire.

What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?

Sins need to be burnt!...

Either with the pain of regret in this world

or....

With the fire of hell in the hereafter."

[Ibn. Al-Qayyim]

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

'Forgiveness is not an occasional act; it is a permanent attitude.'

"When I was 14 my dad was so ignorant I wouldn't even walk down the street with him. By the time I was 21 it was amazing how much he'd learned."

The funny thing is that William Blake, the author of the quote, lived between 1757 – 1827. So this teenage-parent rift is nothing new at all. It has existed for ages! :)
