I did try all the above. but how long can I change the subject? Sometimes they backbite people I knw.

I'm not usually disrespectful. I did mention that its not nice to backbite n when I got attacked I said "well then enjoy eating the meat of ur brothers". I wanted to remind them of the hadeeth. I said this to women who visit our home (not directly at my family). Still wrong I know, but that was my way of reminding them.

Hmm, I know what you mean ukhti. Sorry if I sounded harsh, wasn't my intention . But you know if you're not gentle in your approach, you may cause more harm then good because they'd think your "extreme" maybe or some crap :O :').
