:sl: I am getting crazy(well not really) about all these Boycott posts on facebook. I mean, they just share a picture from another person without verifying if the product is really from the west or not. It could be a hoax you see? Anyway, are we supposed to be boycotting the west now? I remember back in 09' the same thing happened but you know what we basically put our feet on shifting sand. After a conflict is over we start buying their products again. What about the Muslims in the west? How would they survive? Also, there's the fatwa that you can actually buy products from Israel http://islamqa.com/en/ref/20732/boycott

Assalamu-alaikum,

I dont think this should come down to a fatwa of whether buying products that support Israel is haraam or not (because we know that it is permissible to trade fairly with all religious groups).

(So, we should not be insistent on the matter (when speaking to other muslims who do support Israeli-financed products) ).

Insead, this has to do with our own conscience as well as the fact that this is just ONE way that the rest of the world can make some difference (no matter how small it may seem), in supporting our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

Back home, we recently saw a protest against a toy store, called Reggies - who, despite the boycott, not only refuses to end their involvement with the Jewish National Fund, but has threatened that they would intensify it. http://www.islamicboard.com/world-a...otest-toy-stores-israel-ties.html#post1551742

So, we can see that those who support the 'ethnic cleansing' of OUR brothers and sisters - are firm on their intentions.

And so should we be firm on ours.

If we know that a certain company is in support of Israel - then, insha Allah, do your best to avoid buying their product.

Alhamdulillah, we live in a world, that today we are spoilt for choice.....so, there is usually, many other alternatives at our disposal.

Just the thought of a certain percentage of its proceeds, going into the purchase of missiles and other artinery - that is used to blow up OUR ummah, should be enough for us to search for alternatives (even if it means going through some incovenience), or else simply doing without it.

If EVERY muslim thought in this manner - can we imagine the impact it would have on the Israeli front?

:wa:

Anyway, are we supposed to be boycotting the west now?

Boycotting an entire macro-cultural group is stupid.

Targeted boycotts of immoral regimes and companies is much more producive and feasible.
