Unfortunately, I didn't watch this (I was watching 'House' instead - man he's funny). Were the main characters based on real people in the riots, or were they just fictional?

I watched it and from what i can gather the characters were not fictional. I think the main people who were involved in the real riots 5 years ago were from the same family
