I am looking for evidence concerning halal meat. I am a sunni. Would an animal slaughtered by a shia considered halal for me? What is the evidence? Thanks!

Sunnies are muslims, Shias are muslims, what's the difference? Shias slaughter by giving water to the animal first, as it is facing the ka'ba, they say besmilah .... and cut the neck at the place indicated by islamic rules...then they let all the blood go out

:?

I don't mind whether the animal's been slaughter by a Sunni or a Shia....cuz we're all muslims!

There is no adjective in front of Muslim. We are all one Ummah.

I'm not sure about the ruling, but refer to this link to get a basic idea of the beliefs of Al-Shi'a (by sunnis);

It might depend on their beliefs. Some are extreme and believe that Ali (radhiAllahu anhu), the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi waSalams) companion is God. Then there are the least extreme who believe that Ali should have been Khalifah instead of Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman and thats it. So, it's important to know who you're getting the meat off, and what their beliefs are.

if they make bismillah and slaughter the animal correctly, why does it matter what they believe about ali, the khalifa etc etc? i don't get it. :(

Because if they are outside the fold of Islaam, then their meat is like the meat of the disbelievers.

It's because some acts of the Shi'a, depending on the sect can be Kufr [disbelief] - i.e. there are some extreme ones who believe that Ali is God like i mentioned in the earlier post. Then there are others who bow to, sacrifice to and worship other than Allah, which again is a part of, or an act of polytheism.

If for example, a Shi'i sacrifices for other than Allah, - then obviously it's clear that you can't accept that meat.

I think you understand what i mean. And Allah knows best.

islamic aqeedah (belief) is that Muhammad may peace be upon him,
is the last and final messenger of Allah.

so surely for your food to be halal the person who slaughters it must believe in this islamic aqeedah (belief) correct?

i also think you should check this link out,
it could answer any other questions you have about halal food,
Its basically a Halal Monitoring Committee,
they are run by various Ulama (Muslim Scholars),
located in leicester,
it has a lot of information and is very beneficial.

we ought to try our best to keep away from mixing our religion with any and all moshrikeen and separate our identity unless we want to remain in the state we are currently in (and be painted with the same brush).

they practice deception taqiah! none of them are any less extreme than others the difference is only how accomplished a liar any individual is

Please read the above links, as it explains a bit about shirk and the different shee'ee sects. Brother, this question cannot be answered by a layperson. I advise you to contact a person of knowledge. But if you are not able to do this, it is better to stay away from that which is doubtful.

Thread closed before sectarian debates occur.
