What you mean with privately?. Without telling the parents?, or without tell other people and make "walimah" (wedding reception)?.

The pillars of marriage are three:

1. The couple must be free from any legal prevention to their being able to marry one another, like a close relationship or fosterage.

2. The woman must have the approval of her guardian.

3. There must be an offer and acceptance.

The conditions of marriage are four:

1. The presence of the couple

2. Their approval

3. The presence of the woman’s guardian

4. Two male, Muslim witnesses

These are the requirements of a valid marriage.

This is what I found in 'just ask islam'. It kinds of fits with what I learnt.

As long as the conditions of nikah are met marriage is valid. However, I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of the conditions of marriage because a nikah that is done 'privately' sounds very fishy. Marriage (nikah and waleema) is a time for celebration and happiness and it is a time where you need the sincere and heartfelt duas of your friends and family. Zina is kept quiet and secret but marriage, by its very nature, is not.

Asalamualykum,

Okay so you get married in secret how do you intend on hiding the baby which is the path it will inevitably lead to?

Or are you going to keep that a secret too by having an abortion?

Think long-term of the psychological and emotional torture you are putting yourself in and the boy/girl and both of your families.

That is of course the impact in this world not to mention the consequences in the akhira which is more severe....

Deal with the challenges head on.

If you're mature enough to get married you should be able to have an open conversation with the families involved.

May Allah swt give you the ability to make good decisions Ameen.

Sounds like a disaster if you are a sister the man who wants to do private nikah isn't much of a man ditch him.
