Imam An-Nawawi said,
“The scholars have mentioned that insisting upon a minor sin turns it into a major one.”
The companions, Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar, Ibn ‘Abbas and others have also said,
“A sin is no longer major with repentance and a sin is no longer small with insistence.”
At times, the sin itself may not be terribly great, but it's the mentality of carelessness, boldness, insistence and guilt-free conscious that renders it huge in Allah’s eyes!
Don't focus on the smallness of a sin.
But focus at the greatness of Whom you're disobeying
