I am a country boy. I have lived briefly in cities, but always return to the country side.

I prefer a horse to a car

I like raising my own food

I Love the Closeness to Allaah's Creations and appreciating wht he has put on this earth.

The place I call home:

A word of caution for those who only see the idyllic beauty of the country side. It is a very harsh life that puts much demands on a person.

No fast medical help

often no electricity or telephone

Nobody except Allaah(swt) to call upon for help (That is all that is needed)

You have to do all of the mechanical repairs on any equipment like cars

no pizza deivery

It is not the life for everybody, but those of us who love can not envision any other life nor desire any other.

after much comparison and contemplation i conclude the countryside kicks cities *ehhem* !

I'd love to live in the downtown of some huge city. Or on a farm.
Anything but a suburb. EUGH.

The country side.

I have lived in quite a few places, but I am really loving the open spaces of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
A little more about the area, for the next week I will be in Black Hawk South Dakota. Right on the edge of the Pine Ridge Reservation. Normally we would be staying with friends on the Rez, but I have a number of appointments at the VA hospital in Fort Mead. Nothing serious just getting some injections in my back and knees for my arthritis and Aabidah has a number of routine check-ups.

Here are some pics of the Rez and the area around Black Hawk. I did not take these pictures, I found them on some travel sites about the Area.

Where we live is about 500 miles East of here. We live over 100 miles from the nearest city and over 1000 miles from any major large city.

But, for various reasons we spend little time at our home. Most of us days are on the various reservations.

Here is a link for Pine Ridge:

This is for the Cheyenne River Reservation, which is within walking distance of Aabidah's South Dakota House, where most of our horses still are.
