salam,
i wud like to know who is in charge of the forum for counselling...i mean, is there someone in authority who answers?becoz i found a q by a muslim revert...shes in deep distress...yet we've got all sorts of replies posted out there by evry twiddle dum n twiddle dee...i found dem instigating,harrowing...im sure she found evryone's individual opinions n ideas frustrating...wen she needs solid ideas n guidance...there wasnt a single creditable answer to her prob...:?

im sorry i dont intend to pik on anyone by saying dis...of course,it myt hav escaped ur eye...but i think the counselling section shud be reviewed more carefully...
:)
respectfully urs,

I like ur idea:sister:

but personally i think this section is more like a "pal talk" when u r stress..

although, this counselling cant be replaced with "professional councelling" by a Sheikh, Psychologist, Councellor, or a Jurist.(We must put it in bold)

Allahu Alim

But the thing is, we don't have a sheikh etc.

But Yes it is fustrating........When ppl post off topic.

But if we dont post off topic posts, then we cud have a better output than just 1 sheikh, Phsycologist etc.

i agree sis n bro, i know forums r for sharing views wth evryone, by evryone, but u musta gree wen i say dat der shud be at least one credible answer out there...if we cant hav a sheikh or a mufti, one of the moderators/admins cud take charge of dis...or they cud do it as a team...wat say?

Salaam.

It'll help a lot if kids don't start to help out and start saying the general things and not take a look at what the issue really is. For example yesterday someone had a problem about arguing with their husband all the time. Now ofcourse replying with words such as learn to control your anger can help, but it won't solve the problem.

I think only mature people should be able to reply to the topics in the cyber counselling forum. We could appoint a moderator to that particular forum, who will then approve the posts that should be made visible.

I understand that you might want a more comprehansive answer to a situation but the simple fact is that here at Li noone is qulified or has the full knowledge to approach a situation. We never claim to have and never will (unless we get a proper scholar on board)

I would suggest you approach sunniforum.com or another forum with similar attributes.
As sis shudnt have said...this is moreof a "what would you do in this situation" forum and other member will try to suggest ways of getting around a problem. People may post Quraan or sunnah but we must remember that we are not qualified and if your problem is serious you should consult your local imam or sheikh, inshAllah

hope that has helped

It's very time consuming to get an answer for a personal problem from people you don't know. That's not to say it's impossible - just down right hard. Personally, I'd suggest seeking the knowledge of older members of the same sex as they are likely to have more experience and knowledge.

We do get the odd occasion where a 10 year old wants to talk about something he/she really doesn't need to know. *coughs* marriage forum *coughs*.

they should have an age restriction in some forums:p
:w:

The problem with age restrictions is that there is no way of verifying whether a person has told the truth about their age, so it's a system based solely on trust, and we all know too well how trust on the internet is not its strongest virtue.

Regarding the cyber counselling section, it was originally made because people would post about their problems elsewhere on the forum, in various places, asking help from the members as a whole. Therefore this section was made to group all these problems together and provide a place for people to post them as it was quite a regular occurrence.

I fully agree that it would be more helpful to have a qualified person to answer such questions, but as mentioned before, LI does not have any Sheikhs or scholars to undertake such a role.

However, Moderators do check the place now and again and try to offer advice and remove inappropriate posts, so one way you can all help is to use the 'report a bad post' button and let us know when someone has said something inappropriate or when a topic is getting out of hand/off-topic.

Jazakallahu Khayr,

yes i know we wil never make any preposterous claims inshallah,:) but there is a decently acceptable answer dat many seniors on dis forum are qualified to giv...isnt it? i agree for serious mattrs u shud consult a mufti or imam, but wen u say counselling, it implies dat u can help out...or at least say on behalf of our forum dat the distressed in question shud consult higher authorities...
i apologize if i sound too high-handed,but i think dis forum is fabulous n i dont want anything to reflect badly on our forum in any way...

Yeah but imagine the person is 5!!!!
