Two deserters of Myanmar's army are in custody of the International Criminal Court in the Hague where they have described a military campaign in 2017 of mass murders and destruction of the Rohingya Muslims.

He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam.
And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it.
Thus Allah presents [the example of] truth and falsehood.
As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth.
Thus does Allah present examples. Ar-Ra'd 16-17

And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah .
Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.
And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].
The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right.
Those will have a painful punishment. Ash Shuraa 40-42

For those who persevere in doing good there is the ultimate good in store, and more [than that].
No darkness and no ignominy will overshadow their faces [on Resurrection Day]:
It is they who are destined for paradise, therein to abide.
But as for those who have done evil deeds - the recompense of an evil deed shall be the like thereof;
and - since they will have none to defend them against Allah - ignominy will overshadow them as though their faces were veiled by the night's own darkness:
it is they who are destined for the fire, therein to abide. Yunus 26-27

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar : Allah's Apostle said,
"A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor.
Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs;
whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection,
and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection." Sahih al Bukhari

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) sent Mu`adh to Yemen and said,
"Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his supplication and Allah." Sahih al Bukhari
 
"Not only that, verbally she's defending it," he added. "She says, 'I don't know why these people are going. No, we don't have atrocities. No, it is Arakanese who are attacking us.'
All kinds of things ... She gets all the blame and she's responsible for it, and she has to fix it."

Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi now admits the Rohingya situation could have been quote “handled better” - an incredible understatement when the UN suspects genocide.
 

The coup in Maynmar appears to have united almost everyone against the military.
Protesters continue to defiantly demand the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically-elected leaders.
Many say they're only now realising the extent of the army's crackdown on ethnic minorities, such as the muslim Rohingya.
But will this outpouring of sympathy lead to justice for some of the world's most persecuted people?
